According to Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, “Poetry is the expression of the beautiful, through words intricately woven together.”
For me, “Poetry is the science of the beautiful, through words pieced together as a coherent benevolent pattern of mental imagery, and that’s what I consider golden ratio. A mind’s eye phenomenon that persues the whole from which wisdom or visdom (vision/seeing) arise out of the complete darkness.”
Poems are written in lyrics, in series of words, that have rhythm and order, that is, their syllables flow (rheum from Greek: ῥεῦμα rheuma ‘a flowing, rheum’) in a certain way, so that they present a pleasant result to the ear.
Rheology (from Greek ῥέω rhéō, ‘flow’ and -λoγία, -logia, ‘study of’) is the study of the flow of matter, and poetry do matters. Rheology is a branch of physics, and it is the science that deals with the flow of materials.
Kinematics, as a field of study, is often referred to as the “geometry of motion” (rhythm & order) and is occasionally seen as a branch of mathematics.
Cymatics (from Ancient Greek: κῦμα, romanized: kyma, lit. ’wave’) is a subset of modal vibrational phenomena. The term was coined by Hans Jenny (1904-1972), a Swiss follower of the philosophical school known as anthroposophy. Typically the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane (e.g. ear drum) is vibrated, and regions of maximum and minimum displacement are made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid. Different patterns emerge in the excitatory medium depending on the geometry of the plate and the driving frequency.
Vibration is a mechanical phenomenon whereby oscillations occur about an equilibrium point. The word comes from Latin vibrationem (“shaking, brandishing”). The studies of sound and vibration are closely related. Sound, or pressure waves, are generated by vibrating structures (e.g. vocal cords); these pressure waves can also induce the vibration of structures (e.g. ear drum).
I visualize poetry as an endless river of flowing, vibrating words that, as a gentle breeze, a zephyr of peaceful, symmetrical waves, blows your sails softly and travels you towards a dream state where you can experience the ability to sense the true meaning of orientation. Looking up doesn’t mean going high.
